二学期からは通学を許されたが、学校も地獄だった。校長を始めとする教師たちによる性的陵辱と体罰。同じ学校に通う従兄とその悪友どもからも性的虐めを受け、男子を「取られた」女子からはリンチに掛けられる。
母が伯母の恋人を寝取って駆け落ちしたという噂の真相が明らかになる。伯母が貧乏漁師の子を孕み、世間体を慮った親が、妹(久美子の母)と恋仲になっていた名門大学生を姉のほうの嫁にしようと企んで、駆け落ちを余儀なくされたのだった。しかし、真相が明らかになったところで、久美子への虐待は変わらない。『娘宿』での夜這いに名を借りた強制売春も続いていた。
必然的に久美子は妊娠するが、厳寒期に海女稼ぎを強いられて流産に追いやられる。
絶望の日々はいつまでも続くのだが――令和の時代まで生き延びた久美子は、それなりに幸せな晩年を過ごしている。
